Everybody knows that they should drink water everyday. Eight glasses of water is usually the recommended amount. But most people do not get their daily dose. Most people do not drink any water at all. They choose to drink sodas, coffee, tea, alcohol and basically anything but water. However if water was available in easy access water coolers around the work place and in schools, people would most likely drink more of it.
It is harder to ignore a healthy choice when you constantly see it in your environment in the form of a Water Cooler for example. But why is it so important to have a healthy amount of water on a daily basis? Simple. Water is good for your health. Water regulates body temperature, it detoxifies the body and it helps your organs absorb nutrients. Water also helps to boost metabolism (which is great for weight loss or even just keeping your weight stable), it transports nutrients and oxygen into the cells, and the list of benefits goes on and on.
Due to all these benefits water helps you to avoid dehydration which can cause fatigue, thirst, dry skin, a dark colour and strong odour in your urine and hunger. Yes, dehydration can cause hunger. Most people who do not drink enough water mistake the “hunger” caused by dehydration as a hunger for food but by drinking enough water, one’s body will be able to send better signals to the brain and therefore you are less likely to overeat and the feeling of constant hunger will disappear.
Ever had that mid day slump at work? Or that late afternoon slump when your brain just won't function anymore? What do you usually grab hold of to wake you up? Caffeine or a fresh glass of cold water? You may think the caffeine is better but water will wake you up faster and give you the fresh boost that your body really needs.
Having water coolers around the work place, schools and even in your home provides easy access to a refreshing source of natural energy, increases productivity and is a step towards promoting a healthy life style.
